Hay River RCMP charge man with firearm offences, breaching bail conditions
CBC
RCMP in Hay River, N.W.T., have charged a man with several offences after what they call "a volatile situation" Sunday night.
In a news release Tuesday, RCMP say they had received a call about an intoxicated man who left his home in violation of bail conditions. They say the man was armed with a shotgun.
Officers found him later Sunday night back at the home.
They say he was acting erratically, and still armed with a loaded shotgun.
After a brief standoff, police say the man dropped the gun and charged at the officers. That's when they used a Taser device on him.
The 30-year-old man has been charged with multiple firearm offences, as well as resisting a peace officer, assaulting an officer, failure to comply with bail conditions, and mischief.
He remains in custody.
