Tamil Nadu Lokayukta Rules amended to allow outsourcing for certain staff positions, including Office Assistants, totaling 103 sanctioned posts.
The Tamil Nadu government has decided to allow outsourcing as one of the methods to fill up certain categories of the staff in Lokayukta, including the Office Assistants. The amended rules allow outsourcing of about one-third of the total number of staff in the Lokayukta.
The recent amendment to the Tamil Nadu Lokayukta Rules, 2018, allows outsourcing of the posts of System Analyst (sanctioned number of post - 1), Record Clerk (five) and Office Assistant (20). The total number of sanctioned posts in the Lokayukta is 103.
Originally, the posts of System Analyst, Record Clerk and Office Assistant were to be filled up by transfer of the persons in these posts serving in any of the Departments in the Secretariat. The recent amendment mentioned that the method of appointment of these posts could either be by transfer from among the persons in the Departments of Secretariat “or by outsourcing”.
When the rules were framed in 2018, it allowed outsourcing of Drivers (sanctioned number of posts - nine), Messenger (one), Sweeper (two) and Watchman (one).
