Google Pixel 6a, Pixel Watch launch reportedly delayed due to chip shortage

The previous rumors claimed that Google may unveil the Pixel 6a at Google IO 2022, which is scheduled to take place on May 26.

Google Pixel 6a and the Pixel Watch may not launch anytime soon. As per new reports, the Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch will not be launched on their rumored date. The Google Pixel 6a launch has been delayed due to a chip shortage. It is expected to launch later in July. The chip shortage seems to have affected the launch of the Pixel Watch as well. If reports are to be believed, the Pixel Watch launch has also been pushed to a later date.

Noted tipster Jon Prosser, who is rarely wrong about devices and their launch dates, has revealed some exclusive scoops about the Pixel 6a as well as the much-awaited Pixel Watch, which was speculated to be launched in May. “I'm hearing that Google has delayed the pixel 6a until late July. (chip shortage) pixel watch is still May 26th, but the source believes it could soon be pushed as well,” he wrote.

The previous rumors claimed that Google may unveil the Pixel 6a at Google IO 2022, which is scheduled to take place on May 26. The watch was also expected to be launched around the same time. Although Prosser did not entirely revel whether chip shortages had played a spoilsport in Pixel Watch’s launch as well, he hinted that the launch of the watch could also be pushed.

Pixel 6a: Expected specifications

The Google Pixel 6a will be a successor to the Google Pixel 5a. However, it is expected to be smaller than the Pixel 5a. The Pixel 6a will reportedly feature a 6.2-inch OLED display with 90Hz/120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone could be powered by Google’s custom Tensor chipset, that currently runs the show in the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro.

The Pixel 6a may feature a 12.2-megapixel main camera and a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel shooter for selfies.
