Washington: Google has announced the integration of its AI-powered smart assistant Gemini into the Chrome browser to enhance the user experience by providing simplified and interactive information while browsing.
A beta version of Gemini is to be released this week on Windows and Mac.
The company said in an official post that the first phase of Gemini's activation will enable users to simplify complex information on web pages, in addition to the ability to summarize content.
Future plans include developing the assistant to work across multiple browser tabs and even enable it to browse websites on behalf of the user.
Director of product management on the Chrome team Charmaine D’Silva said:"In Chrome, you’ll see a little sparkle icon in the top right corner. Click that and a Gemini chatbot window will open - it's a floating UI that you can move and resize."
