California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s wife just proved that she and her husband reside in a house that claps back.
During a Monday press conference in San Francisco to urge voters to support Prop. 50, a California measure funding affordable housing and homelessness programs, California First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom shifted her focus toward the “fight for democracy” and how she plans to raise her four children —Montana, 16; Hunter, 14; Brooklyn, 12; and Dutch, 9 — during President Donald Trump’s time in office.
“I will not raise my children to think Donald Trump is an acceptable American leader,” Sibel Newsom stated. “Nor that he is what the leader of our great country should behave like. I won’t raise them to think his terror enables his power and that his greed equals success. He is the exact opposite of what real strength looks like.”
The former actor went on to say that she and her husband will continue to instill the values of “what strength really looks like,” which includes “always, always telling the truth” — a quality she believes Trump’s parents failed to teach him, and one whose absence has contributed to the current state of the country.
“On the contrary, Trump is enriching his immediate family and cronies,” she said. “He is stripping away our rights and our democracy. When he knows he’s going to lose, he cheats. When the game isn’t rigged for him, he rigs it himself.”
