Gang held for making fake government certificates, seals in Arakkonam

Arakkonam gang arrested for forging government documents, including certificates and seals, operating for over a decade.
A gang of three persons was arrested for allegedly making fake seals of various government departments, apart from creating forged legal heir, death and community certificates in Arakkonam town near Ranipet on Wednesday.
Police said the arrested persons were identified as K. Rajkumar, , 65, S. Gunasekaran, 62, and R. Nithyanandam, 55. They belong to Arakkonam town.
Initial inquiry revealed that the trio used to hang around government offices and target people who came to obtain community, legal heir and death certificates. They also issued fake land approval that would be issued by civic bodies for individuals to obtain housing loans. They charged between ₹25,000 to ₹40,000 depending on the value.
As police and revenue officials received repeated complaints of forged documents, a special team led by K. Venkatesan, Tahsildar (Arakkonam) was tasked with the job of finding the gang.
The team searched a tailor shop in the town where they found fake government certificates of various departments, seals, maps and printing equipment. Investigation revealed that the gang had been operating for more than a decade in the area, providing forged documents.
Police seized certificates, seals, and maps. A case was registered by Arakkonam police. Arrested persons were lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. A probe is under way.
