Freezing rain, snowfall warnings cancel school buses east of Thunder Bay

Freezing rain, snowfall warnings cancel school buses east of Thunder Bay

CBC
Monday, November 06, 2023 01:24:54 PM UTC

There's a number of snowfall and freezing rain warnings in place this morning across areas of the northwest, and that's having an impact on school bus routes in the region.

Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for Beardmore, Geraldton, Manitouwadge, Hornepayne, and Armstrong areas.

About 15 centimetres of snow is expected by this afternoon, and the agency is warning of reduced visibility.

The weather warnings have prompted the East of Thunder Bay Transportation Consortium to cancel all its bus routes for the day.

The transportation organization covers four school boards in the region.

As well, Environment Canada has also issued a snowfall warning for some areas west of Thunder Bay.

Sioux Lookout and Savant Lake areas are expecting snowfall accumulations near 15 centimetres. The snow is expected to end this morning, with another two cm of snowfall possible later in the day.
