
Former MP Era Mohan passes away

Former MP Era Mohan, who represented Coimbatore, passed away at 81 after a brief illness.
Era Mohan (81), former Member of Parliament and a DMK strongman, who had previously represented Coimbatore Parliamentary Constituency, died at his residence in Coimbatore after a brief illness.
Mr. Mohan was elected to Parliament from Coimbatore in 1980 and he later represented the Singanallur Legislative Assembly Constituency in 1989. He was given the Anna Award in 2022. During Emergency, he was imprisoned under Maintenance of Internal Security Act for one year.
A native of Edayar Street on Variety Hall Road, he had settled at Kalaingar Nagar in Sungam. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Minister for Prohibition and Electricity V. Senthil Balaji, former Ministers Pongalur N. Palanisamy, M. Kannappan, and DMK Urban Unit Secretary N. Karthik paid their last respects to his mortal remains.
