Researchers analyzed the data of over 200,000 adults over a long period of time and found that replacing butter with plant-based oils was associated with an estimated 17% reduction in total mortality and cancer mortality, according to the study. Using data collected from three cohort studies spanning 33 years, researchers assessed diets from "food frequency questionnaires" done every four years.
