Flight service to commence soon from Kanpur to eight cities

Flights for Surat, Dehradun, Rajkot, Kolkata, Patna, Jaipur, and Goa will start from Kanpur soon.

Good news for air passengers as connecting flights from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh to eight cities across the country are going to commence soon. In fact, flight connectivity for Surat, Dehradun, Rajkot, Kolkata, Patna, Jaipur, and Goa will start from Kanpur as soon as the taxi link is made from the runway of the new terminal at the airport.Now Kanpur and Varanasi will also be connected via flights. SpiceJet has also added it to its schedule to start connecting flights from Kanpur to eight cities. For this, permission has also been obtained from the authorities.However, about 38 to 39 per cent of the work on the new terminal of the airport is still pending. The new terminal was to be commissioned only last year. But the work was not completed on time. Four meetings of the airport committee were also held last year.Apart from this, there have been regular on-site visits by the Divisional Commissioner and Civil Aviation Minister Nand Gopal Nandi. Also, the Rajkiya Nirman Nigam -- executive body making the terminal -- is also not showing any speed in the work.At the same time, due to the slow progress of the construction of the new terminal at Chakeri, the Airport Authority has started work by exploring its options. Also, the expansion of the old departure hall has started, after which its capacity will be made equal to three flights.
