Five arrested for gang rape, including minors, filmed the offence committed a few months ago near Belagavi.
Police officers have arrested five persons including two minors, on charges of being part of a gang that allegedly committed repeated gang rape on a minor and filmed the offence.
The offence was committed in a village near Belagavi a few months ago. The 15-year-old girl was abducted, taken to a stone crusher and was raped by six men. They filmed the incident on their mobile phones.
The victim’s parents approached the police two days ago, after she complained. A team has been formed to track and apprehend the accused. Investigations are on.
Police commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulbarao told reporters in Belagavi on Sunday (June 1, 2025) that the accused had used the videos to black mail her and submit her to repeated rape at different places at different times. A case has been registered under POCSO Act.
