FIFA Women's U17 World Cup to be held in India in October 2022: Governing body confirms dates

India will host the FIFA Women's U17 World Cup from October 10 to 30 in 2022. India had the hosting rights for the tournament in 2020 which was postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic.

FIFA on Thursday confirmed the dates for the Women's U17 World Cup to be held in India in 2022. The governing body of international football said the tournament will be held from October 11 to 30. India had the hosting rights for the 2020 U17 Women's World Cup but the tournament was postponed due to Covid-19. The edition which was scheduled to be held in 2021 was cancelled and FIFA awarded the hosting rights to India in 2022. Notably, India had hosted the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2017 across 6 cities, including Kolkata, Kochi and New Delhi. Meeting by video conference on the eve of the 71st FIFA Congress, the FIFA Council also approved the dates for Women's World Cup in 2023. The tournament will be held July 20 to August 20 in Australia and New Zealand. The play-offs will be held from 17 to 23 February 2023.
