Fatal fall of infant from bus: TNSTC suspends driver and conductor
The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), Coimbatore, on Wednesday (May 14, 2025) suspended the driver and conductor of a bus, citing negligence, after a nine-month-old infant died by slipping from the vehicle onto the road in Salem district.
In a complaint lodged with the Thevur police in Salem, T. Rajadurai, 31, of Karungalur in Dharmapuri district, had stated that his infant child slipped and fell from the bus, onto the road, on Monday (May 12, 2025) night, when the driver suddenly applied the brake while taking the Valaiyakaranur flyover, on the Salem-Coimbatore National Highway. Rajadurai had contended that the baby fell out of the bus as the door was not closed.
Following the police complaint, the Managing Director of TNSTC, Coimbatore Region, placed A. Sivanmani, the driver, and K. Palanisamy, the conductor, under suspension.
