Experts stress need to explore sustainable use of marine resources

International conference at VSU discusses innovations in marine systems for sustainable utilization of resources and industry development.
Several experts and scholars participated in the international conference on ‘Blue Revolution: Innovations in Marine Systems’ organised at Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) campus in Nellore on Tuesday. They have discussed the need to explore new opportunities for sustainable utilisation of marine resources in the State.
Speaking at the conference as one of the special guests, Professor Maneel Zakaria, an international expert in the blue economy, shared insights on marine research, advanced technologies, and sustainable fisheries development.
N.V. Ramana Reddy, Chief Executive Officer of Hi-Tech Pharma, stressed the importance of research, technology, and innovations in developing the marine industry. He pointed out the necessity of efficiently utilising marine resources for new opportunities in the pharma sector.
Professor P. Hari Babu, Head (Technical), Deepak Nexgen Feeds Pvt. Ltd., elaborated on the importance of advanced technologies, research, and environmentally friendly policies in fisheries development. He urged industries to prioritise innovations to enhance the quality of marine food products.
VSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Allam Srinivasulu emphasised the significance of technological advancements in marine system development. He highlighted the role of marine biodiversity, ocean health, and innovations in the fisheries sector in promoting the ‘Blue Economy’.
VSU Registrar K. Suneetha highlighted the need for collaboration of universities, research institutions and industries in marine research and fisheries sectors. She said that the conference would serve as a platform for new innovations, research advancements and industrial partnerships.
