Exclusive: What went behind making Rashmika-Vijay's heavy gold wedding jewellery

Hint: It took over 10 months to craft Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda's wedding jewellery, and the couple was deeply involved in the process.
When actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna tied the knot on February 26th in a ceremony rooted in South Indian traditions, their wedding jewellery became one of the most closely watched elements of the celebrations.
Ditching contemporary minimalist aesthetic, both Vijay and Rashmika wore heavy gold jewellery pieces to style their traditional wedding outfits designed by couturier Anamika Khanna. The bridal and groom jewellery sets, designed by SHREE Jewellers, were crafted over a period of ten months with a clear focus on heritage gold craftsmanship rather than trend-led styling. Both Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna wore heavy gold jewellery for the wedding.
In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Abhishek Agarwal and Kaushik Kumar, managing directors of SHREE Jewellers, detailed the vision, process, and emotion behind the pieces created for the couple’s Telugu wedding ceremony.
Speaking exclusively to India Today, they revealed the brief they received from the couple: “The brief was rooted in heritage and permanence. They wanted their wedding jewellery to feel culturally connected, spiritually grounded, and timeless. It wasn’t about creating something trend-driven or experimental. It was about honouring their South Indian roots while reflecting who they are today.”
Both their looks were built around South Indian architecture, strength, and cultural pride. For Rashmika, it translated into a goddess-inspired silhouette. For Vijay, it became royal regalia.
For the wedding ceremony, Rashmika wore a complete gold jewellery ensemble that honoured her roots. It drew inspiration from the sculptural language of South Indian architecture motifs.
