These days are always melancholy.
“Baggies Day,’’ when players gather after their season has come to an end to clean out their lockers (often packing in large plastic garbage bags) and attend a final team meeting, are all the same.
The names of the players and coaches simply change from year to year.
These days mark a sobering milestone — the end of a season, with no more games to play. Depending on how the season has gone, they’re usually tinged with disappointment and regret because unless you’ve won a championship, you’ve come up short of your goal.

Suddenly, someone had hit a rewind button and everyone had been transported back seven months. It was early spring instead of late fall, it was broiling hot outside the arena walls and not freezing cold. Everyone was back at TD Garden. There were 19,156 frenzied fans on their feet begging for blood, poised for the kill.
