Nobody was happy about the way the Mets won their Thursday afternoon game against the Marlins – not even their broadcast team.
The Mets completed perhaps the most controversial victory of the early season when, with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, Michael Conforto leaned into a pitch that was clearly in the strike zone and should have been called strike three. Instead, the umpires ruled he was hit by a pitch, forcing in the winning run. After replay, the call was upheld, but the Mets’ SNY broadcasting team of Gary Cohen, Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez was not afraid to call out what everyone saw.

Almost a year to the day after a goaltender interference call against Kyle Palmieri lost the Islanders a game against the Blue Jackets that started their season’s death spiral, they were on the wrong end of another controversial call against those same Blue Jackets that might have had the same effect.
