Erode student’s team wins national competition in designing underwater vehicle

Two students team from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology in Sathyamangalam bagged the first and second place respectively in “AMUROV”, a national-level underwater robotics challenge for students held recently.
Organised by Marine Technology Society, Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Club MTS-AUV in association with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the competition is to generate and enhance a community of innovators capable of making substantive contributions to the remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs). The competition creates a platform for students to showcase their skills in design and underwater robotics.
Students from across the country took part and two teams from the institute bagged prizes in the final. A team P. Sakthivel, R. Santhosh, S. Balaganesh, M. Jaswanth Kumar and E. Kavin, all from Unmanned Underwater Vehicle Lab secured first place with a cash prize of ₹20,000. Another team comprising T. Prasanth, S.S. Srivishnu, S. Vasanth, J. Kamalesh and K. Mohanakrishnan, all from Modelling and Analysis Lab secured second place with a cash prize of ₹10,000. The final was held at Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh on April 1 and 2 and the winners received their prizes and cash awards.
The teams were mentored by Selvamuthukumaran, Kamal Basha and M. Nandhagopal.
