The Karungalpalayam police on Wednesday (January 29, 2025) registered a case against NTK chief coordinator Seeman and five others for campaigning beyond the permitted time in the Erode (East) Assembly constituency on Tuesday.
The Karungalpalayam police on Wednesday (January 29, 2025) registered a case against Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman and five others for campaigning beyond the permitted time in the Erode (East) Assembly constituency on Tuesday (January 28, 2025) night.
The police said Mr. Seeman participated in a public meeting to campaign for his party’s candidate in the byelection, M.K. Seethalakshmi, at Nerikalmedu. Permission was granted for the meeting from 5.30 p.m. to 6 p.m., but the meeting ended at 9.15 p.m. Based on a complaint from the flying squad, the police registered a case.
So far, five cases have been filed against Mr. Seeman for violating the model code of conduct, which is in force for the byelection scheduled on February 5.
