ENG vs IND, 5th Test, Day 2: Jasprit Bumrah took 35 runs off Stuart Broad during the ongoing match at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
Former South Africa cricketer Robin Peterson, on Saturday, July 2, sent out a hilarious message after one of his dubious records was broken. During the second day’s play of the fifth Test between India and England, fast bowler Stuart Broad broke Peterson’s record for the most expensive over in Test cricket.
Back in December 2003, the legendary Brian Lara recorded the most runs scored in a single over in Test cricket. The West Indies great accomplished the record during a Test match against South Africa at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
Lara smashed the left-arm spinner for 28 runs, including four fours and two sixes. Despite Lara’s efforts, the Caribbean team lost the match by 189 runs. On Saturday, England fast bowler Stuart Broad conceded 35 runs when Jasprit Bumrah took him to the cleaners.
Broad started the over by conceding 10 runs without a ball being bowled. Thereafter, Bumrah smashed him for two sixes and three fours before finishing the over with a single.
Peterson, in the meantime, took to Twitter and wrote, “Sad to lose my record today oh well, records are made to be broken I guess. Onto the next one.”
