Ian Bishop has commented on Jonny Bairstow's fine counterattacking knock, saying that teams shouldn't try to provoke him.
West Indies cricket legend Ian Bishop has said that no one should poke Jonny Bairstow as he scored a counterattacking hundred against India on Day three of the fifth Test.
Bairstow struggled on the second day of the match to come to terms with the Indian bowling as he scored just 12 runs from 47 deliveries.
Resuming on Sunday, the turning point for the 32-year-old came after he was involved in an on-field war of words with Virat Kohli. The former Indian captain fired up the right-handed batter, who went onto launch a counter attack which the Indian bowlers found tough to deal with.
Bairstow reached his century in just 119 balls, which was his fifth hundred of the year. His innings consisted of 14 boundaries and two sixes. The 32-year-old's innings came to an end at 106 as he was caught by Kohli off the bowling of Mohammed Shami.
The innings by the English batter received a lot of plaudits from fans and the cricketing world, with Bishop being the latest to comment on it.
The West Indies cricket legend took to Twitter and said that no one should poke the 'bear' that is Bairstow.
"Don’t poke the Bear that is Johnny Bairstow again please," said Bishop.
