England vs India, 2nd ODI: India would look to secure the ODI series against England at Lord's. All eyes will be on Virat Kohli as fans anxiously wait to know his availability for the 2nd match.
After winning the T20I series, India would look to clinch the ODI leg against England when the two sides meet for the second match at Lord's on Thursday.
India handed England a humiliating 10-wicket defeat in the first ODI to take an early lead of 1-0 in the three-match ODI series. It was Jasprit Bumrah's day as he returned with the figures of 6/19 at the Oval on July 12. Other bowlers rallied around Bumrah as England were bundled out for just 110 before Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan took India home without any loss.
The Indian think tank would not want to tinker with their winning combination, especially the bowlers who were brilliant with their spells. Mohammed Shami snared three wickets and Prasidh Krishna took one.
Captain Rohit Sharma would want to give Shreyas Iyer some game time in the middle as he didn't get the opportunity to bat in the first game. Iyer was named at the number three position after Virat Kohli was ruled out of the first match due to a mild groin strain.
On the other hand, England would be aiming to put their best foot forward in the must-win second ODI. The likes of Jason Roy, Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone, who were all dismissed for ducks in the first ODI, would look to forget that outing in the second. All eyes will be on captain Jos Buttler as to how he manages to guide England, the 2019 champions, to play their aggressive brand of cricket.
