In the video shared by England Cricket, England pacer Matthew Potts could be seen gesturing to his teammates on the field that the ball landed in a fan's beer mug. Later, the woman, Susan, was offered a replacement drink by the New Zealand side, as confirmed by the Barmy Army on social media with the pictures.
After the day's play, Mitchell went to meet Susan to apologise for hitting straight into her beer glass while asking if they got her a replacement and she was quick to confirm that.
Daryl Mitchell (81) and Tom Blundell (67) will resume their bid to press for a series-leveling victory when the second day's play begins.
