
Eastern Railway felicitates women workforce for exemplary service

Eastern Railway honors 31 women employees for exceptional service and promotes women's empowerment on International Women’s Day.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Eastern Railway felicitated 31 women railway employees for their outstanding service. The high-profile felicitation ceremony was organised at Eastern Railway Headquarter, Fairlie Place, Kolkata.
The programme was commenced with traditional lighting of a lamp by Chief Guest, Seema Deouskar, President of the Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (ERWWO), in the presence of Milind Deouskar, General Manager of Eastern Railway; Sheelendra Pratap Singh, Additional General Manager; and Zarina Firdausi, principal chief personnel officer, alongside other principal officers.
With a welcome address by Firdausi, Ms. Deouskar made a speech highlighting the significance of women’s empowerment in the sectors of Indian Railways and promoted self-reliance among female employees to overcome professional challenges.
Mr. Deouskar spoke about Eastern Railway’s dedication to creating an inclusive environment for women employees and mentioned the ongoing development of facilities to enhance working conditions for female staff which would promote their capability to excel within the industry.
Mr. Deouskar handed awards and certificates to 31 lady employees for their outstanding performance and dedication to the service in Eastern Railway. Also felicitated Diksha Rai, daughter of Dharmendra Rai (a head constable in the RPF), who ranked 40 in UPSC examinations this year.
Eastern Railway appreciated women holding critical job roles in the railways like loco-pilots, guards, station managers, ticket collectors, booking clerks and more.
