As an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 hit the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday afternoon, mild tremors were felt in several parts of Chennai.

Mild tremors were felt in several parts of Chennai on Tuesday afternoon, after an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit the Bay of Bengal. The earthquake of moderate intensity struck at around 12:35pm atleast 320 km northeast of Chennai in the west central Bay of Bengal at a depth of 10 km. The location of the tremor was about 296 km southeast of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.
