Divorced for 'failing virginity test', sisters from Kanjarbhat community approach police

Two sisters from Maharashtra's Kolhapur district have made a startling claim, alleging that they were subjected to a 'virginity test' prior to their wedding. One of the sisters reportedly failed the so-called 'test', which has led to turmoil in their lives. The husbands of both sisters are now seeking divorce as the result of an order in this regard by the community panchayat. According to those familiar with the case, the sisters hail from the Kanjarbhat community in Kolhapur. The two got married in November 2020 to two men from the same community in Karnataka.
