Saturday, March 05, 2022 10:30:35 AM UTC

Disney+ has not revealed the price of the new plan, but it will be offered at a cheaper price than the ad-free version. The ad-free version is currently offered at $7.99 (Rs 610 roughly) per month.

Disney Plus is all set to announce a new subscription plan which is going to be cheaper but will be supported with ads. The streaming giant has announced that the plan will be launched later this year. The plan will be first introduced in the US. It will later be expanded to other countries. Disney+ Hotstar currently offers three plans in India starting Rs 299 per month.

“Expanding access to Disney Plus to a broader audience at a lower price point is a win for everyone — consumers, advertisers, and our storytellers. More consumers will be able to access our amazing content. Advertisers will be able to reach a wider audience, and our storytellers will be able to share their incredible work with more fans and families,” said Kareem Daniel, chairman, Disney media and entertainment distribution, in a statement.

Disney+ has not revealed the price of the new plan, but it will be offered at a cheaper price than the ad-free version. The ad-free version is currently offered at $7.99 (Rs 610 roughly) per month.

In the recent earnings call, Disney reported that it has 129.8 million Disney+ subscribers, which includes 5.9 million subscribers to Disney+ Hotstar. By offering cheaper subscription plans to users, Disney aims to reach 230-260 million by 2024. Disney is expected to announce an official launch date in the near future. The subscription plan will be first offered to the users in the United States as well as Canada.

In India, Disney+ Hotstar offers Super and Premium plans. The monthly premium plan is priced at Rs 299/month, whereas the yearly premium plan is priced at Rs 1499. Disney+ Hotstar also sells another subscription plan in India, which is called the Super plan. The plan is priced at Rs 899 per year. The Super plan supports Full HD whereas the Premium plan supports 4K video.

Previously, Disney+ had announced that it would expand its services to over 50 countries, including Europe and the Middle East. The company said that the services will be offered in 42 countries and 11 new territories in the second half of the year. To name a few, Disney+ will be available in South Africa, Poland, and others. Disney hasn’t shared the exact timeline of when the services will be available in 42 countries.

The complete list of countries where Disney+ will be launched includes Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Egypt, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Montenegro, Morocco, North Macedonia, Oman, Palestine, Poland, Qatar, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Vatican City, and Yemen.
