Dinesh Karthik has claimed that he wants to do something special for the Indian team and is determined to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

Dinesh Karthik has revealed that he is determined to be a part of India's World Cup squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

Karthik's resurgence in the shortest format of the game has been incredible as he reinvented himself in this year's IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Tamil Nadu batter scored 330 runs for his franchise at an average of 55. He also had an impressive strike-rate of 183.33 as he executed the role of the finisher properly.

His exploits in the tournament opened the door for a return to the Indian national team and he has continued his fine form in the ongoing series against South Africa.

The 37-year-old's 27-ball 55 helped India secure the win against the Proteas in Rajkot and level the series 2-2 heading into the decider on Sunday.

Talking to Hardik Pandya in a video on BCCI's website, the Tamil Nadu batter said that it is important for him to be a part of the T20 World Cup squad and he wants to do something special for the team.

Karthik also said that he wants to be the guy who wins tough matches for India.

"Look, I was very bull-headed that I want to play this World Cup. It is very important in my life, I have been around for so long. I know what it feels to be dropped. I also know how valuable it is to play for Team India. I wanted to do something special. Luckily, RCB gave me that platform and the role I really enjoyed doing at the backend. I practiced for it. Now that I am here, I want to be that guy who can help India win those tough games. I know how tough it is to be part of this team. The vibe is very different," said Karthik.
