Graduation Day
The 4th and 5th Graduation Day of Sethu Bhaskara Agricultural College and Research Institute, Visalayankottai, Karaikudi, was conducted recently. C. Sylendra Babu, former Director General of Police, was the chief guest. The special guests included M. Mohamed Ehiya, Director of Black Tulip Flowers LLC, operating across Malaysia, Kenya, UAE, and Sharjah, and K. Chandrasekar, chairman of Krishna Agricultural and Technical College, Usilampatti, Madurai district. Other notable attendees included Kokilam Kumanan, secretary of Sethu Valliammal Trust; Kanmani Subramanian, Vice Principal of Soka Ikeda Women’s College of Arts and Science, Ambattur, Chennai; Kandhampalam, college secretary; Naatrayan, Joint Director of Agriculture, Theni District (retired) and Bharathi, former manager of Syndicate Bank. Sethu Kumanan, chairman offered felicitations. M. Vishnu Priya, Principal (in charge), welcomed the gathering and presented the annual report. In his address, Mr. Sylendra Babu underlined the importance of psychological education and stated that education alone can instill self-confidence in students. He encouraged students to study agriculture with scientific understanding and depth. He conferred degrees on 140 graduates from the 2018 and 2019 batches. K. Chandrasekar, chairman of Krishna Agricultural and Technical College, honored the top three graduates - Barkavi, Darshini, and Srinidhi.
107 selected at job fair
Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women, Kilakarai, in collaboration with the Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP), organised a mega job fair on May 10. As many as 423 job seekers from various educational backgrounds - 10th, 12th, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels - both fresh graduates and experienced professionals, participated in the recruitment drive. More than 30 reputed companies from industries such as engineering, telecom, hospitality, BPO, and logistics took part, offering diverse career opportunities. A total of 107 candidates were selected. S. Sumaya, Principal, was present. The job fair served as a valuable platform to bridge the gap between job aspirants and potential employers.
Project contest
The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Student Chapter of Syed Ammal Engineering College, Ramanathapuram organised a mini project competition for third-year students, offering a vibrant platform for emerging engineers to demonstrate their technical knowledge, innovation, and teamwork. The event saw participation from all departments, with over 60 teams presenting a wide range of projects. Students explored diverse domains, including Civil Engineering, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, Automation, Smart Systems, and Renewable Energy. The competition aimed to promote hands-on learning and practical problem-solving aligned with societal and environmental needs. M. Periyasamy, Principal, inaugurated it. Esteemed alumni took part in the panel of judges. The college felicitated T. Pooja Shanthini, a first-year student, for winning the consolation prize in a State-level essay competition conducted by Tamil Nadu Online Gaming Authority. The competition, held to raise awareness of social issues, focused on the topic ‘Ill effects of online gaming.’
