Fog delays flights at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, with visibility as low as 50 meters, now back to normal.
A thick layer of fog engulfed the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on January 2 leading to the delay of eight flights in Bengaluru.
BIAL officials said that eight outbound flights, including two of Indigo’s international flights to Phuket and Dubai, were among those that were delayed.
Three Indigo flights and one flight each belonging to Akasa Air, Air India Express and Air India flight were among the domestic flights that were delayed.
Officials said that lowest visibility of 50 metres was reported between 5.19 a.m. and 7.40 a.m.
The IMD classifies fog into different types based on general visibility. It is classified as shallow fog when the visibility falls up to 500 metres, moderate up to 200 metres, dense up to 50 metres, and very dense when the visibility is less than 50 metres.
The fog at KIA is known as radiation fog. It is anticipated during the four months from November to February between 3 a.m. and 8.30 a.m. During this period, flight operations are affected at Bengaluru airport due to poor visibility.
Officials added that operations at the airport are normal now.

Insurance penetration and density are often misunderstood and do not reveal how many families are insured or whether they would be financially secure if the main earning member were to die. The real issue is not reach but adequacy, as households may have life insurance but not enough cover to replace lost income, leaving them financially vulnerable.
