Denied hospital bed, Covid patient in Pune dies by suicide; doctor says she had recovered

A Covid-19 positive woman ended her life at her house in Pune. While the doctors at a Pune hospital where she was receiving treatment said she had recovered from the infection, her husband has accused the authorities of refusing to admit her.

A 42-year-old woman, who tested positive for the Covid-19 infection, ended her life at her house in Pune, Maharashtra. While her husband has accused a hospital in Warje Malwadi area of refusing to admit the woman, the doctors rejected the allegations, saying she was discharged after treatment for Covid-19. Her husband told India Today TV that his wife had mild symptoms of Covid-19 on April 2 and when these symptoms became severe, he admitted her to a designated Covid hospital in the Warje Malwadi area in Pune on April 8. The woman was discharged four days later, on April 11. He said he wanted her treatment to continue for some more days but, the hospital insisted on it and discharged the woman. However, the same night, the woman complained of tremendous weakness, her husband told India Today TV.
