The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Friday took suo moto cognizance of a social media post by a woman who claimed she was sexually harassed at the Jor Bagh metro station.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Friday took suo moto cognizance of a social media post by a woman who claimed that she was sexually harassed by a passenger at the Jor Bagh metro station.

The victim, Advaita Kapoor, shared her ordeal in a thread on Twitter and described the traumatising incident.

Acting on the post, Swati Maliwal, DCW Chairperson, wrote a notice to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Delhi Metro and stated that this is a very serious matter and merits urgent attention. She asked for information related to the case to be provided to the Commission latest by June 7.

The information to be submitted includes a copy of the FIR registered in the matter, details of the accused arrested in the case, details of police personnel who refused to assist the girl, a copy of CCTV footage and a detailed action report.

WOMAN ALLEGES HARASSMENT
