Delay in signing refugee order frustrates Biden allies, dismays separated families

Joseph Sankisha lived in a refugee camp for nearly a decade after fleeing violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that he said had killed several family members, including his parents. While he's grateful to have been resettled in the U.S., Sankisha has not seen his family in over four years.
Sankisha's wife and five-year-old daughter, who remain at the Osire refugee camp in Namibia, are unlikely to be resettled in the U.S. as long Trump-era restrictions on refugee admissions continue to remain in place. "America told us we could be in peace here and that we were going to get some rest. But to live without the family is really complicated, really hard," Sankisha said in an interview.
The Trump administration deployed ICE and other Homeland Security agents to 14 of the nation's airports on Monday to help shuttle passengers through overcrowded TSA checkpoints.
