Delhi Capitals star opener Shikhar Dhawan on Thursday surpassed Chennai Super Kings batsman Suresh Raina to become the second-highest run-getter in the history of the Indian Premier League during the 25th match of IPL 2021 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Dhawan achieved this feat en route his 46-run knock during Delhi Capitals' emphatic seven-wicket win over Kolkata in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Dhawan also regained the IPL 2021 Orange Cap as he has now scored 311 runs in seven innings of IPL 2021. With 5508 runs, Dhawan presently sits at the 2nd spot on the list of most run-getters in IPL after Virat Kohli’s tally of 6041 runs.
