
Dalit teens raped, killed in UP: Govt assures swift action, says proceedings will be fast-tracked

The Uttar Pradesh government has assured swift action and justice after two Dalit minor sisters were found hanging on a tree in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that justice would be delivered and proceedings would be done via a fast-track court.
Speaking exclusively to India Today TV, UP Deputy CM said, "A high-level investigation has been ordered into the matter and the guilty won't be spared. The government is standing with the family of the victim and the situation is being monitored by me."
Junaid, Sohail, Hafizul, Karimuddin and Arif were involved in the incident. Girls were strangled to death and then hanged. Government will take such an action that the souls of their coming generations will also shiver, he said.

The mother of the victims alleged that her daughters were raped and murdered. Their mother told the police that teenagers were abducted by men on motorcycles, were raped and their bodies were hung on a tree. Police have taken the accused into custody after the mother of the victims filed an FIR. But police said the girls went with the accused with their free will.
