A cyclonic storm brewing in the Bay of Bengal is likely to cause heavy rainfall, along with gutsy wind, in south Bengal over the weekend, the Met department said on Thursday.

According to a defence official, the Indian Coast Guard has tasked its aircraft and ships to relay weather warnings to the mariners, thereby initiating pre-emptive actions for the safety of life and property at sea.
