India women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has admitted that she will be watching the second semifinal between Australia and New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games 2022 to set their plans for the final.
The Indian team secured a spot in the gold medal match after beating hosts England by four runs on Saturday with Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues shining with the bat and Sneh Rana being the star with the ball.
Speaking after the match, Kaur said that she had to be fired up so that the team would be involved and they would never think they're out of the game.
"I had to be fired up, because if I am charged the team would be involved and they'd never think we're out of the game," said Kaur.
On the batting effort by the team, she said Shefali Verma did well in patches and would learn about staying in. Kaur also said that Mandhana was fantastic.
"Shefali did well in patches, sometimes it's hard to go when you don't get strike. She'll learn about staying in and find ways to overcome such situations. But Smriti was fantastic," said Kaur.
The India captain also commented on Rodrigues' injury and said that she will be fine and should be fit for the final.
