CSK vs MI: Maybe he won't even be there next year-Aakash Chopra questions Chennai's handling of Ravindra Jadeja

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra said he has a thought that Ravindra Jadeja might not feature for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) next season.

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra is baffled by Chennai Super Kings' 'ill-handling' of Ravindra Jadeja and said he has a feeling that the star all-rounder may not feature for the CSK in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Chopra feels there might be a lot going on behind the scenes for CSK and he also pointed out the example of what happened with Suresh Raina last season.

Jadeja was ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2022 with a rib injury, confirmed CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan on Wednesday, 11 May. The Chennai Super Kings all-rounder has had a poor time with bat and ball this season: in 10 matches, he managed only 116 runs and took just 5 wickets.

Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings for almost 10 years, was unfollowed by the franchise on their Instagram handle. This has led to speculation on social media that Jadeja left the season abruptly because of some issues with the team.

"Jaddu (Jadeja) won't be there for this match. But I am getting a thought that maybe he won't even be there next year. This happens in the Chennai camp that you don't exactly know what has happened to the player when he is injured or gets dropped. A similar thing happened to Suresh Raina in 2021. After some games, they suddenly left him out," Chopra said while speaking in a video on his YouTube channel.

CSK only have a mathematical possibility of making the last four as they languish in ninth place with just eight points from 11 outings. Chopra said that CSK's IPL 2022 clash against Mumbai Indians might be tricky as both teams have had great rivalry and some close contests over the years.

"Chennai will need to keep on winning to have any chance of progressing ahead. There is a mathematical chance, but for that to happen, winning is important. Everything starts with the fact that they have to win games. Whenever they play Mumbai, the games are tough but interesting too," Chopra added.
