IPL 2022, CSK vs DC: MS Dhoni pushed Dwayne Bravo to take two quick doubles after the West Indies all-rounder walked out to bat with his captain in the final over of the Chennai Super Kings’ innings. Dhoni’s quickfire 21 propelled the defending champions to a match-winning total of 208.
Chennai Super Kings all-rounder and IPL’s all-time leading wicket-taker Dwayne Bravo joked about his partnership with MS Dhoni during CSK’s 91-run win over Delhi Capitals in Match 55 of the ongoing season in Mumbai on Sunday, saying he was worried about his hamstrings as the skipper pushed him to run for twos.
Bravo came into bat in the final over of the Chennai innings, facing a hat-trick ball against Anrich Nortje with only 3 delivery left to play. Bravo took a single of the first delivery he faced to deny Nortje the hat-trick and give the strike back to MS Dhoni who had already hit 2 sixes and a boundary in the first 6 deliveries he faced.
Dhoni was on fire on Sunday as he took the attack to the Delhi bowlers at the death after Devon Conway (87) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (41) gave CSK a 110-run opening stand.
Dhoni ended the innings without being able to score a boundary in the final over but he pushed hard and ran between the wickets like a teenager to pick up two 2s and help CSK post 208 on the board.
Bravo had to dive to complete the first double as the senior all-rounder was gasping for breath at the end of the innings.
Speaking after CSK’s thumping win over DC, Bravo recalled his fun-filled conversation with Dhoni in the final over of their innings.
“Well, for me it was a hat-trick ball. I wanted to make sure I get him on strike. I told him to hit boundaries, not push me for twos,” Bravo told the official broadcasters.
