CRPF jawan fires 8 rounds, holds his wife, daughter hostage for 18 hours before shooting self in Jodhpur

A CRPF jawan, identified as Naresh Jaat, fired 8 rounds from his INSAS rifle before taking his wife and 8-year-old daughter hostage at his service quarters in Jodhpur. After an 18-hour standoff, the jawan reportedly killed himself.
A (Central Reserve Police Force) CRPF jawan in Rajasthan's Jodhpur, who had taken his family hostage and had locked himself up with them, shot himself on Monday morning, July 11. The CRPF jawan had reportedly taken an INSAS rifle and 40 rounds. He had fired eight rounds in the air on Sunday evening, leading to panic in the area.
The jawan shot himself nearly 18 hours after the initial hostage situation came to light. Police Commissioner, Ravidutt Gaur, confirmed the shooting.
The CRPF jawan, who was posted at the CRPF training centre, took his wife and daughter hostage on Sunday at around 5 pm. He locked himself up along with them inside his service quarters.
The deceased CRPF jawan, Naresh Jaat, who hails from Rajasthan's Pali district, had been dissatisfied over certain issues. He was also reportedly facing mental health problems.
Along with Jaat, his wife and 8-year-old daughter were also holed up inside the service quarter. Due to this, the police were cautious in handling the situation.
Naresh's father spoke to him thrice over the phone. But thereafter, his phone was switched off. The situation came to an end after 18 hours. The holed up CRPF jawan reportedly shot himself.
