Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday tied Iran's Ali Daei as the all-time top scorer in international soccer by moving on to 109 goals in Portugal's Euro 2020 game against France. Ronaldo scored two penalties to help the defending champions secure a 2-2 draw with France and give the team a spot in the Round of 16 at the European Championship. The brace meant Ronaldo scored five times at the Euro 2020 group stage, the most by a player in the group stage at the tournament since Michel Platini scored seven times in 1984. An anxious night for the reigning European champions saw them occupy every position in the so-called group of death at various junctures but the 36-year-old Ronaldo, so often his country's saviour, stepped up to reach another career milestone.
