Crime rate in Tamil Nadu has risen by over 50% this year, alleges Nainar Nagenthran
BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran on Thursday (May 15 2025) claimed there was a 52% increase in all types of crimes in Tamil Nadu this year, when compared to the previous year.
Crimes such as murders, sexual assaults, and those related to liquor consumption were being reported daily and were on the rise, said Mr. Nagenthran.
In a brief interaction with journalists in Tiruchi, Mr. Nagenthran attributed this rise to liquor consumption. He accused the DMK government of not paying due attention to the issue and squarely blamed the ruling establishment for the increase in number of offences.
When asked about the Kodanad Estate heist-cum-murder case, Mr. Nagenthran said his party’s stand was that the culprits should be punished. When asked whether more parties would join the AIADMK-BJP alliance, he merely said that there was still a year left before the Assembly election.
