IPL 2022, MI vs SRH: Tristan Stubbs said he was thrilled to hear about his call-up from Mumbai Indians. Stubbs was in Zimbabwe representing South Africa A when he was told about his selection.
Tristan Stubbs revealed he was playing golf in Zimbabwe when he heard of an IPL call-up with Mumbai Indians. Tristan Stubbs, only 21, was named in the MI squad late into a disastrous season and then debuted against defending champions Chennai Super Kings. However, he was dismissed for a duck.
Tristan Stubbs was playing for South Africa A in Zimbabwe but within a few hours, he had taken a flight to come to Mumbai to play in the richest T20 league in the world.

Mumbai Indians, the most successful team in IPL history, are already out of the running for the playoffs but Tristan Stubbs wants to take certain learnings with him.
Speaking to Start Sports before the start of MI's penultimate match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Tristan Stubbs said he was excited after being named in the MI squad.
"I was very excited. I was on the golf course in Zimbabwe. Crazy few hours once I found out," Stubbs said.
"My old man asked me to call him because he knew it before me, so I called him and he told me. It's awesome to be here. Wonderful tournament to be a part of and experience everything," he said.
