CPI (M) team inspects Amaravati lands allotted to Central government institutions, demands progress within six months from PM Modi.
A delegation of CPI(M) led by its State Secretariat member Ch. Baburao visited the lands at Thullur and Rayapudi, which were allotted for various Central government institutions, and inspected the status of the construction works.
Addressing the media, Mr. Baburao said more than 300 acres were provided to 41 institutions or departments, but there had been little progress in the construction of the buildings. He attributed it partly to the ‘negligence of the Central government’.
He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should issue directions to complete the construction works within six months.
A total of 1,277 acres were allotted by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) to 114 private and government institutions in Amaravati, including more than 300 acres to Central government institutions or departments.
“Almost a decade has passed since the PM laid the foundation for the capital city in Amaravati and land allotments were made. However, nothing much has happened,” he said.
Mr. Baburao said many Central institutions had neither taken possession of the lands allotted to them nor signed agreements due to the lack of funds and the necessary approvals. “Only a few institutions have constructed boundary walls,” he said.
“The previous YSRCP and the present coalition government failed to mount pressure on the Centre to take steps for the construction of the said buildings,” Mr. Baburao said.
