CPI-M opposes land acquisition for companies, demands transparency, and unity among people, criticizing government actions and communal tensions.
CPI-M State secretary V. Srinivasa Rao has said that party is opposed to the acquisition and illegal allocation of land to various companies in the name of development. The successive Congress, TDP and YSRCP governments had allocated lands to various companies, many of which are yet to start operations.
Referring to the allocation of lands to URSA company in Visakhapatnam by the TDP-JSP-BJP, NDA Alliance government, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the CPI-M has been asking the State government on the credibility of URSA, but, so far, it has not received any reply. The Adani Group, which was allotted land, by the TDP government during its earlier stint for setting up of a data centre at Kapuluppada, in Vizag, has not commenced operations.
He said that the CPI-M was not opposed to the development of IT and Cinema industry in Vizag. In fact, the ecosystem in Vizag was conducive to the development of IT and cinema industry and they should be welcomed. The people of Amaravati were wondering what was the need to acquire an additional 40,000 acres of land for the capital. The existing land should be utilised to build the capital, instead of acquiring more land and turning it into a real estate venture.
The CPI-M State secretary demanded release of a white paper on land allocations to various companies in the State and how far they were utilised for setting up of industries. Referring to illegal quartzite mining at Kasuluvada village of Anandapuram mandal in Visakhapatnam district, he said that mining was stopped last year as it was found that it was being done illegally. He wondered how it was revived again. He said that no gram sabha was held and public opinion was not taken before revival of mining operations.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the party would hold seminars and rallies, on the name of ‘Samaikhya Sadassulu’ all over the State, to unify all sections of the people, irrespective of their faith, from May 20 to 30. While terrorism should opposed and condemned by all sections of the people, he felt it was wrong to fan communal passions by targetting those professing a particular faith. He found fault with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and charged him with trying to divide the nation on religious lines.
