U19 World Cup: Five Indian players, including captain Yash Dhull, continue to be isolation after testing positive for Covid-19 while Vasu Vats has tested negative.

India could still be missing five of the six players who tested positive for Covid-19 when they take on Uganda on Saturday in the U19 World Cup. India fielded a depleted squad in their previous match against Ireland with six players, including captain Yash Dhull testing positive.

According to sources, Vasu Vats is the only player who has tested negative after the second round of testing. He will join the rest of the players who played against Ireland and will be available for selection on Saturday.

Earlier, India were led by left-handed batter Nishant Sindhu in their second Group B match.

"The India U19 squad currently taking part in the ICC Under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2022 have reported COVID-19 positive cases following RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests. Ahead of their second Group B clash against Ireland U19 on Wednesday morning, six members out of the 17-member squad were ruled out of selection," the BCCI said in a statement.

The Board is monitoring the situation closely and is in touch with the management and the coaching group, it added. "The players will remain in isolation but will be under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team," it said.
