Healthy adults who cut calories by 25% may experience a slight slowdown in the aging process, according to a trial conducted by Columbia University’s Aging Center.
All participants were within normal weight or were slightly overweight, as measured by their body mass index (BMI). It's not realistic for everyone to restrict calories, but the study findings are significant. Melissa Rudy is health editor and a member of the lifestyle team at Fox News Digital.
Some participants cut their daily calorie intake by 25%. (For someone eating around 2,500 calories per day, that would mean cutting 625 calories.) A control group continued eating their regular diets.
