
Cormorant helicopter crashes at Gander air base

A Cormorant helicopter has crashed at the 9 Wing air force base in Gander.
According to a spokesperson for 103 SAR Squadron, the CH-149 helicopter crashed Thursday afternoon.
About 12 emergency vehicles were at the scene around 5:30 p.m., including fire and rescue vehicles.
The tail of the helicopter appears to be missing, and the aircraft is lying on its side.
A source told CBC News the crew have been taken to hospital in Gander, but there's no word yet on the extent or type of injuries they may have.
Weather conditions have been favourable in the area, with mostly blue skies and light winds through the afternoon.
