Cop families threatened in attempt to encroach police land in Bengaluru by woman-led gang; e-khata created by fraud

An FIR has been registered at the Malleswaram Police Station after a major land grab attempt by a gang led by a woman and her five associates, involving a property belonging to the police department, came to light. The property, estimated to be worth around ₹80 crore, was allegedly targeted by the accused in collusion with officials.

The complaint was filed by M. Kumar, Lokayukta Inspector of Bengaluru South district. Based on his complaint, the police have booked M.R. Mahalakshmi, Krishnamurthy, Srinath Naragadde, and officials from the civic body and Bescom. An investigation is currently under way.

According to the complaint, the land in question has over 100 years of history and is officially recorded as police quarters in a survey map dating back to 1913. At present, families of four inspectors and other police personnel are residing on the property.

The issue surfaced when Inspector Kumar noticed that a recent electricity bill issued to his residence carried the name of a private individual, Mahalakshmi, instead of the police department. Suspicious of the discrepancy, he approached Bescom, the local civic body and the sub-registrar’s office for clarification.

During the inquiry, it was allegedly found that property records had been illegally transferred in the name of Mahalakshmi. Further probe revealed that an e-khata had been fraudulently created through civic body records, and even a sale agreement had been executed in favour of Krishnamurthy.

In a disturbing development, the complaint also states that on March 9, a group of individuals visited the police quarters and threatened the residents. They allegedly claimed ownership of the land and warned the families to vacate immediately. The accused reportedly threatened to throw out their belongings and issued death threats if the occupants failed to comply.
