Connecticut residents die after shellfish bacteria infection

Connecticut health officials said two residents have died this summer following infections linked to Vibrio vulnificus bacteria, which is found in raw shellfish or seawater.
However, the state Bureau of Aquaculture said earlier this month that Connecticut shellfish have never been associated with such infections and that the bureau tests commercial oysters statewide and has not detected it in any samples. Julia Musto is a reporter for Fox News and Fox Business Digital.
Two of the three cases were wound infections not associated with seafood. The third was in a Connecticut resident who consumed raw oysters not harvested from Long Island Sound at an out-of-state establishment.
